The 2024 Olympic Games, held in Paris, represented a major event requiring rigorous security and supervision to ensure the protection of athletes, spectators and residents.

With millions of visitors expected, crowd management, incident prevention and cyber security were top priorities. This was achieved by coordinating local authorities, security services and technology experts to anticipate risks and respond rapidly to critical situations. Ensuring a secure environment made it possible not only for the events to run smoothly, but also to preserve the spirit of togetherness and peace that is the essence of the Olympic Games.

Bertin Technologies, a specialist in chemical detection, was asked by the Laboratoire Central de la Préfecture de Police (LCPP) to help protect individuals and national sovereignty from the dangers of gas dispersion. More specifically, Bertin Technologies supplied ‘Second Sight’ chemical threat detection cameras. These were deployed during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as at various strategic sites such as the Olympic Village and the Stade de France. The aim of this initiative was to monitor sensitive locations to ensure a rapid response in the event of a terrorist threat.
