The Coriolis air sampler is designed to offer flexibility for microbiological air sampling, whether indoors or outdoors. Its battery-powered functionality allows for reliable sampling in various environments, but like any battery-operated equipment, it requires certain practices to maintain optimal battery performance over time. Here are some key tips for prolonging your Coriolis µ battery life and ensuring dependable operation during every sampling session.
Regular Charging
The Coriolis µ uses a rechargeable NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) battery. To prevent irreversible damage from self-discharge, recharge the battery for 3 hours every two months, even if the device hasn’t been used. After each sampling session, recharge the battery, even if it’s not fully depleted, so it’s always ready for the next use. The battery must be charged using the dedicated charger. When plugged into main power, the Coriolis does not charge the battery.
Handling the Battery
Treat the battery carefully to avoid damage. Avoid shocks or impacts, and always remove the battery before shipping the Coriolis µ to prevent any transport damage. Before starting a new sampling session, always ensure the battery is fully charged for uninterrupted operation.
Charger Indicator Lights
The charger’s light indicators provide clear information about the battery’s charging status:
- Yellow: No battery or charging initialization.
- Orange: Fast charging in progress.
- Green/Yellow Flashing: Charging complete.
- Green: Fully charged and ready for use.
- Orange/Green Flashing: Charging error—check the connections or the battery.
Storing the Battery
Store the battery in a cool, dry place, ideally between 10°C and 25°C, to preserve its performance. Avoid storing it for long periods without recharging, as this can cause irreversible damage.
Use Main Power for Long Sessions
For extended sampling sessions, it’s recommended to connect the Coriolis to the main power to reduce strain on the battery and prevent it from fully discharging during use.
Following these simple practices will help maximize the longevity of your Coriolis µ battery, ensuring that your air sampler is always ready for reliable, efficient operation. If you have further questions or need additional support, our team is here to help!
