Context
Next-generation sequencing and microarray-based genomic technologies require high-quality DNA input to generate reliable data. In addition, DNA quantity is sometimes limited using certain types of tissues such as the retina and sperm. DNA extraction is a critical step in molecular biology laboratories. For these reasons, we must optimize the DNA extraction process and implement reliable and fast extraction methods, allowing us to obtain a high level of quality and quantity of DNA.
In this application note, we present the results obtained with the Precellys Tissue DNA Extraction Kit compared to those obtained with a competitor extraction kit usually used in our laboratory (kit X). The DNA yield and quality (integrity and purity) were compared between the two methods. For this study, we used tissue samples (brain, liver, and kidney) from mice housed in our animal facility without any treatment.
