Coriolis Micro and Maxwell® RSC: A Study on Airborne Pathogen Detection Efficiency

Coriolis Micro and Maxwell® RSC: A Study on Airborne Pathogen Detection Efficiency Bertin Technologies 72539

Detecting airborne pathogens is crucial for environmental monitoring and public health. A recent study evaluated the performance of Bertin Technologies’ Coriolis Micro air sampler combined with Promega’s Maxwell® RSC Enviro Total Nucleic Acid Kit for the extraction and purification of nucleic acids from air samples. The results demonstrated the effective detection of viruses and bacteria, including SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza B, from large air volumes collected with the Coriolis Micro.

The Coriolis Micro excels in environmental sampling, thanks to its ability to capture particles from high air volumes in diverse settings. Coupled with the Maxwell® RSC instrument, which simplifies nucleic acid purification, the workflow enables the efficient detection of both viral RNA and bacterial DNA using RT-qPCR and metagenomic sequencing.

For environmental and health surveillance labs, this study underscores the reliability of the Coriolis Micro and Maxwell® RSC as a robust and effective solution for airborne pathogen detection. With this innovative combination, labs can enhance monitoring capabilities and ensure accurate pathogen identification for safer environments.
