Context
The use of radioactive materials in the industry, safety and medical fields is becoming increasingly common around the world and generates an increased risk of source dispersion.
Waste disposal centers, as well as waste to energy plant, scrap yards, steel mills and foundries are required to set up a radioactivity check on handled materials, using Radiation Portal Monitors (RPM).
RPM, installed at the gate of the sites, alerts the operator of the presence of orphan sources and/or contaminated materials in the load so that the safety of the site, its workers and the environment is always ensured. In the event of an alarm, it is essential to obtain the maximum of information about the cause in order to better understand the risk and to provide an appropriate response.
